Staff Spotlight On...LaToya
Meet LaToya Hinton!

LaToya Hinton is our US Project Support Associate Manager, based in the Chicago office in the US, and has been with us for over six months. In her current role, she provides day-to-day supervision and guidance to the U.S. Project Support Associates.

1. Before working at MRN what the most unusual or interesting job was you’ve ever had?

Around 15 years ago while I was in my master’s program, I accepted a part-time position at a local hospital working in the radiology department. Sounds attractive, but I worked in the basement of the hospital making copies of radiology images. The majority of my time was spent in a little room with a little red light. It was so depressing.

2. What three words best describe MRN for you?

Innovative – Organized – Friendly.

3. What do you like most about MRN and what do you find most challenging?

The culture of the company is amazing. Everyone that I have encountered is respectful to their team and their ideas. They’re friendly and love to joke around before getting down to business. But I can only assume that is because Graham has set the tone and everyone else followed suit.

In terms of the most challenging, it would have to be the time difference. Grrrrrr.  Sometimes I might have a question for my manager Caroline at 4 pm, then come to the realization that it’s her bedtime.

4. Why did you want to join MRN?

Prior to MRN, I did not know that there were companies that specifically facilitated home visits for clinical trials. I was amazed that this area of research existed and super amazed at how much MRN had grown in a short period of time. I wanted to be a part of this great company that is providing a different avenue to conduct research visits.

5. What do you want to achieve while at MRN?

I would love to create a pathway for new Project Support Associates to get acclimated to the role more efficiently.

6. What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

I survived my Covid-19 diagnosis. That was the most terrifying week of my life!

7. If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

I would love to be my 3-year-old daughter. She has so much energy that I am sure I would be able to get a months’ worth of work done in 1 day being her.

8. If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?

I would love to have witnessed and been apart of the Civil Rights Movement March on Washington in 1963. This is where Martin Luther King gave his I Have a Dream speech. Last year my daughter and I participated in the March on Washington for the 57th anniversary.

9. People would be surprised if they knew…?

People are always surprised when I tell them that my daughters are 19 years apart. I have a 22-year-old and a 3-year-old. And yes, it was on purpose. Lol!

10. What is your personal philosophy?

To count my blessings and not my problems.

11. Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

Punta Cana. I love the Caribbean. I love the sun, the beaches, and most importantly the food. I also got married there.

12. What is your biggest passion or strength?

I am extremely passionate about the growth of my daughters. I am a stage mom. I support my eldest’s singing career.  Prior to Covid, I would attend the majority of her shows. Both of my girls are extremely talented and destined to be entertainers.

13. What’s something you’d like to experience?

Having a maid. Lol

14. What’s the best advice you’ve ever had?

Don’t eat yellow snow. Lol. I love to joke around. But I was once told to always be genuine. Because my character can get me into places that my resume cannot.
