Staff Spotlight On...Keli!
Meet Keli Phillips!

Keli Phillips is one of our Document Creation Associates, based in the Milton Keynes office in the UK and joined us in 2020 as part of our accelerated growth and response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Keli works as part of the nursing group to assist our Research Nurse Managers with the documents that nurses use to complete remote visits.

1. Before working at MRN, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I worked on a clinical trial for lung cancer in association with Cancer Research UK. My job was to recruit patients onto the trial and it was very fulfilling to be able to do that! I felt like I was helping to make a difference in their lives – something I’m continuing here at MRN.

2. What three words best describe MRN for you?

Engaging – Interesting – Fun.

3. What do you like most about MRN and what do you find most challenging?

The people without a doubt are the best part, plus the role MRN plays in clinical trials is amazing to be a part of.

So far, the most challenging part has been completely remote working, and not being able to see and meet people. However, the nursing team that I work with are very good at engaging people, so I’ve not felt isolated.

4. Why did you want to join MRN?

Having previously worked at a CRO, I wanted to be closer to the patient and not just a small cog in a big organization. MRN makes you feel like your role really matters.

5. What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

One of my biggest achievements is learning to live with System Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) which is an autoimmune disease that affects my joints.

6. If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day?

I think I’d like to be my dog! He sleeps all day, gets fed, watered, and walked! What more could you want?!

7. People would be surprised if they knew…?

I trained to become a Samaritan.

8. What is your favorite thing to do?

My favorite thing to do is to take my sausage dog, Randall, for a walk with my husband to a nice country pub!

9. What is your biggest passion or strength?

I feel my biggest passion is my family and friends. They have helped me overcome a lot! Together you really can achieve anything.

10. What’s something you’d like to experience?

Weirdly I think I’d like to experience climbing Mount Everest! It really mesmerizes me!

11. What is the first concert you attended?

It was Bryan Adams, the groover from Vancouver!

12. What is your personal philosophy?

I think my personal philosophy would be just to be true to yourself. Never change for anyone!
