Staff Spotlight On...Kike!
Meet Kike Abomide!

Kike Abomide is one of our Research Nurse Managers, based in the Milton Keynes office in the UK and has been with us for just over a year. As part of her role, she provides the clinical knowledge and expertise required to enable the delivery of Home Trial Support (HTS) projects safely and efficiently in line with MRN’s, the clients and regulatory requirements.

1. Before working at MRN, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

For several years I’ve had a passion for antiques, which has led to now running a small family antiques business.

2. What three words best describe MRN for you?

Welcoming – Progressive – Flexible.

3. What do you like most about MRN and what do you find most challenging?

The thing I really like about working at MRN is the sense of teamwork and great communication. In terms of what’s most challenging; every day is a new challenge and another opportunity to learn something new, while that’s great, it can still present its hurdles!

4. Why did you want to join MRN?

I saw it as an opportunity to contribute to an exciting, forward-thinking and fast-moving company.

5. What do you want to achieve while at MRN?

I enjoy the way in which my work helps me grow both personally and professionally. By continuing to work with my team, honing my collaboration skills, it’s giving me the chance to see the exciting places my career could go. I feel really positive about my future.

6. What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?

Achieving two degrees in Nursing and Pharmacy and being fortunate enough to have been able to mentor fellow students and co-workers.

7. If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?

I’d love to go and see Mandela being freed from prison. What a powerful moment.

8. People would be surprised if they knew?

I was born in the Netherlands. I have lived in 9 different countries, travelling around with my father’s job as a Consul General.

9. What is the first concert you ever attended?

I saw David Bowie and the Chemical Brothers at Glastonbury – not a bad first concert!

10. What is your personal philosophy?

To not fear failure, but to rather fear not trying.

11. Where is the best place you’ve travelled to and why?

I’d have to say Indonesia – the culture, the food, the weather and the people were incredible.

12. What’s the best advice you’ve ever had?

It was from both of my parents – I was told to lead by example and to remember that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
